What is the Commercial Pilot License – CPL (A)?

The Commercial Pilot Certificate is a qualification that permits the holder to act as the pilot of an aircraft for remuneration, i.e. to get employed as a pilot.
What are the Commercial Pilot License – CPL(A) course entry requirements?
The Commercial Pilot License – CPL(A) course entry requirements are as follows:
- to be at least 18 years old
- to be a Class 1 Medical holder
You need to be physically fit for commercial flying (capable of holding EASA Pilot Medical Certificate Class 1). - to be PPL(A) holder
You need to be at least EASA PPL(A) holder with Night Rating and 150 hours total flight time out of which 50 as Pilot-in-Command at the time of enrollment. - to have your theoretical exams passed
You need to have the theoretical exams passed – either CPL(A) theory or ATPL(A) theory. - to be proficient in the English language
You need to be proficient in the English language ICAO English Language Proficiency minimum level 4). - to have sufficient knowledge of Mathematics and Physics
You must be able to make some basic mental calculation and have a minimum of knowledge in Mathematics and Physics, no degree or scholarship are needed but an evaluation will be done by the Academy.
What can I do with my Commercial Pilot License – CPL(A)?
The Commercial Pilot License allows you to act as the pilot of an aircraft for remuneration and
- Act as co-pilot (First Officer) in commercial air transportation,
- Act as pilot-in-command or co-pilot of any airplane engaged in operations other than commercial air transportation,
- Act as pilot-in-command in commercial air transportation of any single-pilot airplane.
How can I get my Commercial Pilot License – CPL(A)?
Step 1: complete the theoretical training
The theoretical training is provided in a form of several ground briefings/debriefings to help you understand what will be expected of you in the following flight. You will familiarize yourself with the basic commercial operations and maneuvers, gain further knowledge necessary for obtaining a CPL (A) and become familiar with the handling of a complex airplane.
Step 2: complete the practical training
- For IR rated pilots – consists of 15 flight hours Dual, out of which 5 hours are on complex aircraft;
- For non-IR rated pilots – 25 hours Dual, out of which 5 hours are on complex aircraft.
At the end of the training, the trainee must have a minimum of 200 total flight hours (including PPL(A) time):

- 20 hours of VFR cross-country flight time as pilot-in-command, including a cross-country flight totaling at least 540 km (300 NM) in the course of with full-stop landings at two aerodromes different from the aerodromes of departure,
- 10 hours of instrument training – Basic Instrument Flight Module (BIFM),
- 5 hours of night flying including one cross-country flight and 5 solo take-offs and 5 landings,
- 5 hours on a complex airplane.
Step 3: pass a practical flight examination
You will have to demonstrate the ability to:
- Operate the airplane within its limitations,
- Complete all maneuvers as smooth and as accurate as requested by EASA,
- Exercise good judgment and airmanship,
- Apply aeronautical knowledge,
- Maintain control of the airplane at all times
How much does the Commercial Pilot License – CPL(A) course cost?
The course price starts from 3198 EUR. Training fees are covering the following items and services:
- Instructor time for practical training only
- Aircraft rental with fuel

How long does it take to complete Commercial Pilot License – CPL(A) training?
The duration of Commercial Pilot License – CPL(A) training depends on the trainee’s time availability for both theoretical and practical training and the minimum duration is 3 weeks.
