What are the Certified Flight Instructor License – CFI and Certified Flight Instrument Instructor CFII License?
The Certified Flight Instructor License and CFII (Certified Flight Instrument Instructor) License will allow you to train future aspiring pilots. With a CFI license you will be able to teach PPL and CPL, with a CFII you will be allowed to teach IR; these qualifications you provide you an excellent experience as PIC and as a professional pilot.
What are the Certified Flight Instructor – CFI(A) course entry requirements?
- To be at least CPL(A) holder
You need to be at least FAA Commercial Pilot License – CPL(A) holder - to be a Class 3 Medical holder
You need to be physically fit for commercial flying (capable of holding FAA Pilot Medical Certificate Class 3). - to be proficient in the English language
You need to be able to read, write, understand and speak English in a fluent way
How can I get my Certified Flight Instructor License – CFI and Certified Flight Instrument Instructor CFII License?
Step 1: Start the Ground and Flight training
Certified Flight Instructor, CFI:
- 10 hours of flight with an instructor
- approx. 30 hours of ground instruction
Certified Flight Instrument Instructor, CFII:
- 5 hours of flight with an instructor
- 5 hours of ground instruction
Step 2: Pass the theoretical examination before the Checkride
The applicant must demonstrate a level of knowledge appropriate to the privileges of the holder of a CFI & CFII in accordance with the requirements under the FARs. The applicant has to demonstrate the theoretical knowledge at an FAA approved testing center in the form of two written tests. The applicant must pass the written exams with a minimum score of 70%.
Step 3: Pass the Checkride
The practical skill exam is performed in flight with the authorized FAA examiner and can be taken after successful completion of the written tests at the FAA authority.
How much do the CFI(A) and CFII(A) courses cost?
No taxes are applied for pilot training in Florida.
The CFI course price starts from 2030 USD and the CFII from 1320 USD. The FAA CFII(A) program fee covers the following items and services:
- Flight Instructor time for ground school & practical training
- Airplane usage, including fuel. We don’t apply any fuel surcharge!

How long does it take to complete CFI(A) / CFII(A) training?
The CFI(A) / CFII(A) can be obtained in as little as 1-2 months depending on the trainees time availability for both theoretical and practical training.
